Not just another Caribbean Island

This fall, I traveled for the first time to the Dominican Republic. My love of travel has taken me to various places in the Caribbean. So, my initial thought was, ok, just another Caribbean Isle. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the rainbow colors of the culture and the warm, welcoming reception of the beautiful people.

Being that this was a port stop on a cruise, I was only on the island for a portion of the day. However, that did not interfere with me soaking up some rays on one of the beautiful nearby beaches and enjoying the beautiful center city scenery as I strolled down Umbrella Street, or “Calle de las Sombrillas,” in Puerto Plata. No doubt, a thing of beauty.

If you’ve never had a chance to visit the Dominican Republic, you definitely need to add it to your bucket list of places that you must visit. I will definitely be back to explore more of the island.
